Amman Day Tours

Half day Amman City tour from Amman
Available daily 1 January – 31 December for min. 2 pass.

Amman is the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world, with a timeline that can be traced back to times before the birth of Christ (AD), and therefore possesses a rich wealth of architectural history. Participate on a tour that will visit various mosques and historical sites as you explore both the old and the new parts of Jordan’s capital and its surroundings.

Half day Jerash tour
Available daily 1 January – 31 December for min. 2 pass.

Jerash, the formerly lost city, likes 48km north of Amman. It was hit and largely destroyed by a large earthquake in 749 AD and then further ravaged by additional smaller ones. It further fell into ruin as various wars engulfed the region and eventually was completely lost in the sand until finally being re-discovered in 1806 by a German orientalist. Embark on a tour that will explore these ruins which are home to various theatres, churches, temples and colonnaded streets all of which today represent one of the best preserved examples of Roman civilization in the region.

Full day Jerash & Aljoun from Amman tour
Available daily 1 January – 31 December for min. 2 pass.

Drive north to the formerly lost city of Jerash whose ruins today represent one of the best examples of Roman civilization in the region. Explore the theatres, churches, and temples as you wander along the remaining colonnaded streets. Then proceed to Aljoun Castle, a former Saracen stronghold that was built in the 12th century by a nephew of Saladin, the famous Saracen commander. It served as an integral defense, dominating a wide stretch of the northern valley and guarding it against the invading crusaders. Then drive back to Amman.

Full day Petra from Amman tour
Available daily 1 January – 31 December for min. 2 pass.

A full day dedicated to visiting the UNESCO protected Nabatean city of Petra, often also called the Rose city due to the rose-coloured stone in the area. Travel from Amman via the Desert Highway. Then close-by switch to a Bedouin-guided horse as you make your way to the fabled “Siq”, an immense sandstone gorge which leads directly to the famous Treasury, Al Khazneh. Spend the day exploring the rich historical heritage of the area with all its ancient temples, royal tombs, and other historically interesting buildings before returning to Amman.

Full day Dead Sea from Amman tour
Available daily 1 January – 31 December for min. 2 pass.

Travel from Amman to the Dead Sea, the lowest body of water on the surface of the Earth at 400m below sea level. This 80km long lake is known as the Dead Sea because of its high salt content which prevents anything beyond simple bacteria from living in it or surviving along its shores. As another side effect of the high salt concentration, the water provides natural buoyancy allowing almost anything to float in it. Float or swim in the Sea before returning to Amman.

Full day Aqaba city from Amman tour
Available daily 1 January – 31 December for min. 2 pass.

Depart from Amman to Aqaba for a tour of this Red Sea resort city. See the house of Sharif Hussein Bin Ali and Aqaba Castle. Then wander around the local souq before visiting South Beach. Some time at leisure for shopping in Aqaba’s special duty-free shopping zone before returning to Amman.

Half day Desert Castles tour

Available daily 1 January – 31 December for min. 2 pass.

Visit the Desert Castles on this half-day tour. The desert castles are a number of buildings, some of which have been converted into minor fortresses or castles, which are scattered throughout the desert in Eastern Jordan. The original uses for these building are uncertain but it has been theorised that many served as farming estates, guesthouses, baths, houses for nobility or caravanserais (stops for caravans) as most can be found near an oasis along former major trade or military routes. See Qasr Azraq which is located near an important oasis and which served as Lawrence of Arabia’s base during the Arab revolt. Also see the UNESCO protected Qasr Amra, a former royal retreat which serves as one of the most important examples of early Islamic art due to the impressive frescoes that can still be found on the ceilings within. Return to Amman.

Available daily 1 January – 31 December for min. 2 pass.

Travel to Madaba on the Kings’ Highway. Visit the Church of St. George and see the oldest surviving map of the Holy Land dating back to the 6th century AD. Then travel to Mt. Nebo, the mountain where the Bible says Moses was allowed to gaze across the Promised Land before his death. The view from the summit extends across a large part of the Holy Land, the valley of the River Jordan and on a clear day even offers a glimpse of Jerusalem. Then return to Amman.
